Hot LAVA Cakes!!
Calling all chocolate lovers…You gotta make this recipe!!
Once your spoon breaks into the chocolatey crust of the cake, you are greeted with a warm, gooey chocolate pudding center. So good, so good…
Its also a perfect dessert to make for your friends. Everyone can enjoy their own little lava cake. And I promise, they will love you forever.
So here’s what I did…
I chopped some good quality dark chocolate.
Cubed some butter.
Melted these together in a double boiler.
Separated egg yolks from egg whites.
Whipped up the egg yolks with sugar, and added them to the melted chocolate and butter.
Whipped the egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks formed, and then gently folded them to the chocolate batter.
Poured my lovely batter into 4 well greased, floured, and sugared, ramekins (you can also use muffin tins).
Baked in the oven at 400 degrees F, for 12 minutes.
Cooled them for a bit, and then flipped them gently onto plates.
I also whipped up some whip cream and topped the cakes with fresh strawberries. YUM.
I found the Lava Cake recipe from the Joy Of Baking online website. You can follow the complete instructions here: http://www.joyofbaking.com/MoltenChocolateCakes.html
For the whipped cream:
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
Enjoy!
